Sri Lankan team reached Guwahati for T20 series on Thursday

The Sri Lankan cricket team, led by veteran fast bowler Lasith Malinga, arrived here on Thursday amid tight security to play a series of three T20 Internationals against India. The Sri Lankan team was taken to the hotel amid tight security in view of demonstrations against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAA). The Indian team is likely to arrive here by a different flight on Friday for the match on Sunday.

‘There are optional practice sessions for both teams. First Sri Lanka team will practice and Indian team in the evening. There were large-scale protests against the CAA in Assam in December which affected Ranji and Under-19 matches. ACA Secretary Devjit Saikia said, “But now the situation is completely normal and tourism in the state has started running as before.” We are hosting the Khelo India Games from January 10, in which around seven thousand players will participate.
