Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath, while thanking the Union Government for giving relief amount of one thousand crore rupees for the loss due to excessive rains in the state, said that the remaining amount of 5621.28 crore should also be released without delay. The Chief Minister said that 60 lakh hectare crops of 55 lakh farmers have been destroyed in the state. The Chief Minister has urged the Prime Minister to immediately release the remaining relief amount, so that the farmers may be compensated for the loss. Shri Nath said that like other states, the Central Government should also show generosity towards the people of Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister said that in the memorandum he had submitted to the Prime Minister regarding the damage caused by over-rash, it was also considered as a serious tragedy and also placed it in the category of serious disaster. The Central Study Team has also given a report by visiting all the affected areas. The report also assesses the damage.

The Chief Minister said that due to the damage done to farmers due to excessive rainfall in the state in the past, they are facing cash problem. They will need money for seeds and fertilizer for sowing of Rabi season. In such a situation, the Central Government should immediately release the remaining relief amount, which can be distributed to the farmers. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is making all efforts to provide relief to the farmers with their own resources. The help of the Central Government is also necessary in the heavy loss caused by excess rain. In view of the serious situation of delay in assisting the Center to provide relief to the farmers, the Chief Minister has appealed to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to release the relief amount at the earliest, so that the relief amount can be given to the farmers.
