Finance Ministry has refused to give details of accounts of Indians to Swiss Bank. He says that this information comes under the confidentiality provision of the tax deal between India and Switzerland. In response to a question asked under the Right to Information (RTI) Act, the ministry also refused to give details of black money received from abroad. In response to a question asked under the RTI Act, the ministry said, under such agreements the exchange of information comes under the confidentiality provision.

Therefore, under Section 8 (1) and 8 (1) (f) of the RTI Act, the information relating to tax received from foreign governments is exempt from disclosure. Under the RTI, details were sought from the ministry regarding information received from Switzerland about Indian accounts in banks there. Information was also sought from the Ministry about information received from other countries about black money. India received Swiss bank account details from Switzerland in September under an agreement for the automatic exchange of information.
