In an interview, he said that you can guess from the autonomy of the Election Commission that one of my predecessors had written to the government and demanded a sanction of Rs 30 to buy the book. In those days, the Commission was treated like a hanger of the government. The Chief Election Commissioner before me sat outside the Law Minister’s office and waited when he was called. I decided that I would never do this. Earlier, in our office all the envelopes were written in writing, Election Commission of India. I made them clear that I am not a part of the Government of India.

VHP does not want government representation in trust

The Prime Minister’s desire to convey the message of Indianness through the proposed trust for the construction of the Ram temple may require a prolonged outcry. In fact, the VHP, the leader of the temple movement, demands that the government neither have any representation in the trust nor any place other than those who believe in Vaishnavism, Shaiva and Saguna Brahman. In order to protect the system of worship from familism, the VHP has advocated the adoption of the Badrinath model, where a priest can remain in office only until Brahmachari remains.

Champat Rai, the VHP’s international vice-president and instrumental in the Ram temple trial, said the trust has not been negotiated with the government. However, we believe that ministers or officers should not be included in that. We do not want the continuation of the temple construction hindered by the transfer of officials or the removal of the post of ministers. Therefore, the government should distance itself from the construction of the temple. In fact, the PM wishes to include eminent people from other religions to showcase India’s diverse culture in the Trust to deliver a larger message globally. That is why on Sunday, NSA Doval also took the mind of the religious leaders about this.

(NSA) Ajit Doval and his Advisory Council were instrumental

Doval’s strategy worked

National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and his Advisory Council were instrumental in the BJP’s two main agendas, the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and the maintenance of security and peace after the Ram Temple decision. On both occasions, the Home Ministry worked on the roadmap made by Doval. Taking the precautionary security force out of the barracks in large numbers to the streets and keeping social media and communication medium under control was the mainstay of the entire security system. In addition, the old method of collecting personal ground intelligence instead of relying on technology was effectively adopted by the intelligence system. According to a high-ranking official involved in security matters, in both cases Doval had assured the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Home Ministry about security and peacekeeping. The condition was that in the case of law and order, the trust of the state governments is not to be trusted. According to sources, since constitutionally law and order is a matter of state government, many questions also arose on these methods of Doval. But in the end, this is his out of the box idea.

On both occasions, the Home Ministry worked on the roadmap made by Doval.

Doval's strategy worked

Pressure created through security

On the basis of his experience, Doval decided to launch a large number of security forces on the road. He was of the opinion that it had a double psychological effect. The visible presence of the security force brings home a sense of security among the peace loving people and fear of those who create trouble. Significantly, in Jammu and Kashmir, hundreds of companies were stationed at Gali Muhallo even before the announcement of removal of 370. Even before the Supreme Court’s decision on the temple, only 40 companies of paramilitary forces were sent to Ayodhya to fill the roads.

Kept the media under control

Doval believed that if social media and communication media were controlled, 80 percent of the danger would be averted. This was the reason that the entire media in Jammu and Kashmir was destroyed. Later it was gradually relaxed but the situation was being monitored day and night. The National Institute of Technical Research Organization (NTRO) and the Multi Agency Center (MAC), the technical institute of the Intelligence Department, were fully involved in both cases. At least ten new centers were set up to monitor social media in Uttar Pradesh in the Ram Temple decision case. According to the plan, immediately after taking action on any inflammatory post, the police was promoting it on its Twitter and Facebook handle. This model was also adopted in identified sensitive areas of other states. The Home Ministry believes that the scheme worked.
