BJP and Shiv Sena will come together today, not tomorrow

Amid the ongoing tussle over government formation in Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar has once again said that we will play the role of opposition. Pawar said that if the people have chosen us to play the role of the opposition, then we will do the same there. He said that those who have got the mandate now find a solution. They will unite tomorrow if not today. Pawar said that our party has no role in government formation. He said that BJP and Shiv Sena should consider forming a government in Maharashtra together. Prior to Pawar’s statement, senior Sena leader Sanjay Raut met Sharad Pawar here on Wednesday.

Raut said after the meeting that it was a courtesy call. Let me tell you that there is a tussle between the BJP and Shiv Sena for the post of Chief Minister. Unlike the previous assembly elections, BJP and Shiv Sena contested this election together. In the 288-member assembly, the BJP won 105 seats this time, while the Shiv Sena won 56 seats. Rajya Sabha member Raut had earlier said that his party wanted written assurances from the BJP on the sharing of power, including sharing the chief minister’s post for two-and-a-half years. He also claimed that it was agreed before the election to share the chief minister’s post between the BJP and Shiv Sena.
