After the Citizenship Amendment Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted on Wednesday, saying that the bill will be filed in the golden pages on the pages of history and it will provide permanent relief to the refugees suffering from religious persecution. Sources said while addressing the meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party, the Prime Minister said that in the last six months, the government has done ‘historical work’ in various areas including farmers, strengthening the economy, ending the provisions related to special status of Jammu and Kashmir and Party MPs should take these actions among the public. The Prime Minister asked the party MPs to take the opinion of different sections of the society about the upcoming budget and inform the Finance Minister about it. According to sources, Modi said that the leaders of some political parties are using the same language as Pakistan uses the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the party MPs should make it known to the public.

He said that the Citizenship Amendment Bill will be written in golden letters on the pages of history and it will provide permanent relief to the refugees suffering from religious persecution. Significantly, the Lok Sabha had approved the Citizenship Amendment Bill on Monday in which people from Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities who came to India due to religious persecution from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan are eligible for application for Indian citizenship There is a provision to make. After the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi told reporters that the Citizenship Amendment Bill will be put up for discussion and passage in the Rajya Sabha at 12 noon. He hoped that it would pass easily. In the meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party, the Prime Minister expressed happiness over the BJP’s victory in the Karnataka by-election and also congratulated the people of the state, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and the state leadership.
